• Chadwick Fullner laughed, picturing how fierce Madison Sawyer had looked a minute ago. “You already won. He was halfway to a meltdown because of you. I was about to grab the phone and curse him out, but you didn’t even cuss—and somehow that hit harder.”
• Madison pouted. “Hey, I’m still my Dad’s daughter. And I’ve been buried in this for days. If I can’t read the board and lay things out clearly, that’d be embarrassing as hell.”
• But with that little pout, Madison seemed to snap back into her old self. She flopped onto the table, sighed, and said, “Truth is, all I can do is talk. Same as him. Right now, he can only cut off my outside support. If he wants to crush me for good, he can’t do it yet. We’re stuck in a stalemate. Good thing I already scooped up those shares—or he’d have wiped me out in minutes. But we can’t keep playing like this. I want to beat him.
