Chapter 31 Ex-Lover (4)

  • "She lost her mother at a young age, so she was really dependent on her father. Her father is her only relative. So, even though there was only a 30% chance, I still decided to take the risk. She didn't have much money as she had spent most of the family savings on the earlier treatment. She was already extremely depressed during that period, and I didn't want to worry her about the surgery fees. So, I didn't tell her anything about the surgery. I went all over the place to borrow money from others. I used to be a pretty nice guy, so everyone trusted me and was willing to help out. I got more than 500,000, and I put my savings in to pay the hospital for the surgery fees. However, the 30% chance didn't happen, as her father passed away one month after the surgery. She never knew about the surgery until the very end, and she didn't know anything about the fees. I don’t want her to know about it, and I don't need her to return any money. I was the one who borrowed the money, so it has got nothing to do with her. I chose to spend this money on her, and I never thought of asking her to pay me back since I was the one who made the decision. It doesn't matter if we're together or not; I don't want our relationship to be tied together by money. Doing that would only contaminate the love that we had. Am I dumb for thinking that way?" Chadwick asked Madison.
  • She stared at him for a long time without saying anything. "You are dumb, but I respect your stupidity. I don't know how others perceive you, but you're a real man to me, Chad."
  • "Alright. Stop comforting me. I don't need you to comfort me yet." He poured himself another glass of beer, and this was his fifth bottle.
