Chapter 13 Part-Time Husband (3)

  • Chadwick pressed the button on the elevator for the 17th floor; once he was on the 17th floor, he walked straight to the door of Room 1702. Initially, he wanted to knock on the door. However, after calculating the time those two were in there, he decided to stand by the door and take a quick smoke. Then, he started playing with his phone out of boredom. After playing for more than ten minutes, he guessed that the atmosphere between the two must have gotten rather heated by now. Therefore, he vindictively knocked on the door while smoking his cigarette and couldn't help letting out a snicker when he imagined how annoyed they would get if he just kept knocking on the door and interrupting them when things were about to get good.
  • "Who is it?" Then, after a long time, Chadwick heard James' indescribably irritable and impatient tone sounding through the door.
  • "I'm the staff of this hotel. I'm sorry. We've found out that there's a problem with the circuit in your room, and we need to check it, then repair it if the need arises. So please open the door."
  • "No, there's no need! Nothing is wrong with this room! Just leave!"
  • "Sir, I hope that you guys will cooperate with us. If there's a problem with this circuit, it might cause a fire. So, it's my job to deal with this issue immediately. If you don't open the door, I'll enter with or without your consent using the hotel's mastercard. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!" Chadwick said in a deepened and raspy voice to prevent his ex-superior from recognizing him.
  • "Don't, don't. Wait a minute. M*therf**kers! What kind of a lousy hotel do you all have here?! I will never come back again!" Chadwick heard James' constant grumbling from inside. Then, he saw the door open with a click.
  • "What kind of repair do—Chadwick Fullner? It's you?" James saw him as soon as he opened the door.
  • "Mr. Tamas, how are you?" He smiled. Then, he pushed James away and walked into the room without a care.
  • After he entered, he happened to see the so-called treasurer, Mia wearing her outermost layer of clothing. It was as clear as day that she did not intend to wear her inner layers of clothing. Why? Because she needs to take them off again later.
  • "Yo, Mia! Why are you here?" he asked while taking out his phone to take pictures.
  • "What are you doing, Chadwick?" James asked as he came over to grab Chadwick's phone. However, how could the so-called Mr. Tamas be his opponent with Chadwick's well-built figure?
  • "Chad, w-what are you doing?" Mia asked anxiously.
  • "Nothing. I happened to pass by and saw the two of you coming in. I thought I should come up and greet you guys since we used to be colleagues, and Mr. Tamas was my supervisor, after all. Hence, I wanted to come in and greet you two. By the way, what are you two planning to do? Mia, why did you even take this off?" He pretended not to understand the situation and pointed at the exposed underwear beside the bed.
  • "N-No… This…" Mia was also stupefied and quickly shook her head. But it's useless for me not to admit it, right?
  • James looked at Chadwick sullenly. Then, he walked to the door, closed it, turned around, and took out a cigarette from his pants pocket. Finally, he handed the cigarette to Chadwick and asked directly, "Tell it to me, straight. What do you want?"
  • "What do I want? Let me think about it." Chadwick was so focused on following them and gathering blackmail that he didn't really think about what he wanted when he confronted the two.
  • "Let's not beat around the bush. How much money do you want in exchange for those pictures to be deleted?" James continued.
  • "Money? No, I don't want money. Won't it be blackmail if I asked for money? I won't do anything illegal."
  • "Then what do you want to do?! What should I do so that you can delete the photos on your phone?" At this moment, James was hopping mad.
  • "Mr. Tamas, don't get so agitated. I wasn't this furious when you fired me in a promiscuous manner. Well, I'm not asking too much. I'll go back to work tomorrow, and you expand my delivery territory and include the districts on Blossom Boulevard in my territory. Also, another request: I will take Wednesday morning off and won't be making deliveries. But don't worry, I'll make up for it in the afternoon. How does that sound?" Chadwick said leisurely as he sat on a chair while taking a long drag of his cigarette.
  • James' facial expression was already unsightly, gradually worsening with each of his demands. Finally, he uttered through gritted teeth, "Fine! Now quickly delete all the photos on your phone in front of me!"
  • "Delete? No way. What if I delete it, and you fire me again? Do you think I'm that much of an idiot?" Chadwick smiled and put the phone in his pocket.
  • "Chadwick, don't push your luck! Trust me. It's easy for someone like me to ruin your life here in Millsborough!" James finally lost his temper.
  • "Of course, I believe you. But you can also trust me on this one thing; I know where you live and your status within your family. Let's not forget the fact that I've met your lovely wife. Plus, I've been secretly following you two for a while now, and I have taken lots of photos. Say, will you be homeless and lose everything immediately after I showed your wife these photos? Don't forget. It was because of your father-in-law that you are able to hold the position of manager in our company," Chadwick said with a smile. Then, he stood up and added, "Mr. Tamas, since the deal is off, I have no choice but to leave in search of a better deal. Maybe this time I'll visit your wife? Bye!"
  • He walked out of the room as he spoke. I know Mr. Tamas way too well. He's not a capable man. It was only after marrying his wife did he become a manager at a branch under his father-in-law's courier company. In short, he's nothing without his wife.
  • "No. No. No Stop! Fine, I promise you! You can come back to work tomorrow, but you have to promise that no one can see the contents of your phone. You'd best not say a word about it either! If my wife finds out about this, you're the first person to go down. You got that?"
  • "Don't worry. I have a strong work ethic. So, it has nothing to do with me whether or not the both of you are f*cking each other on the side. I just care about my job. Mr. Tamas, since you have agreed, I will continue to go to work tomorrow. So sorry to bother you. Do continue, don't let me ruin the mood between the both of you. By the way, Mr. Tamas, your pants are unzipped. We don't want you to get c*ckblocked so badly that your friend down under can't function. Wouldn't that be tragic? Since you two won't be able to keep doing this in the future. Well then, I'll leave you two to it. Bye!" Chadwick grinned as he walked out and closed the door behind him.
  • After he left the room, he could not help but let out a hearty laugh. He could guess the expressions of the two at this very moment. It doesn't take a genius to assume that no one would be getting any after this.
  • "Who knew that finding a job would be so easy? It's not difficult at all!" Chadwick snickered as he strolled out of the hotel.
  • From the next day, Chadwick began to deliver his packages everywhere. One of the reasons why he was reluctant to quit this job was that although this job was very hard, the salary was higher than that of most people sitting in the office. If he worked hard enough, he could earn nearly 6,000 a month. One must know that Keith and Yasmin have worked in Millsborough for so many years. Although they sat in the office all day without experiencing many setbacks and hardships, they only got paid more than 4,000 a month. The most important reason was that the job of a delivery guy enabled him to wander around the city all day, which is what Chadwick needed. He wanted to find someone and hoped that one day he could meet the woman he had been looking for.
  • "Come on, Chad. Let us buddies accompany you for a drink tonight." When Yasmin finished making the deal, Keith put a few bottles of beer on the table. Then, he opened one and handed it to Chadwick.
  • "Flattery will get you everywhere, but it will get you nowhere with me. What do you want? Tell it to me straight. I'm telling you now, I'm a poor man, and the only valuable thing I have is my life," Chadwick said bluntly as he side-eyed Keith.
  • "Ouch, that just hurts my feelings! Am I such a person in your eyes?!"
  • "Eh, more or less. Anyway, there's nothing good once you suddenly become friendly with me. Speak! What do you want me to do this time?" He drank a sip of the beer and began eating the dishes.
  • After she rolled her eyes at Keith, Yasmin said in a straightforward manner, "Oh, you idiot! Stop putting your foot in your mouth! I'll say it. Chad, he's too embarrassed to say this, so I'll be his mouthpiece. You also know that the two of us live in this small house, and you're a grown man. It's fine if you live here for one or two days, but you've been living here for a few months, so it’s really inconvenient. Didn't you say that you're earning up to 15,000 a month just by pretending to be that woman's husband? Plus, you earn at least 5 to 6,000 monthly from your delivery job. After totaling everything, you'll be earning more than 20,000 a month. So, why are you still mooching off us, sleeping on our couch, and reluctant to get out there and find your own place to live? To be honest with you, we're starting to get annoyed!"
