- Maybe it was the long separation. Getting his dad back made Finn extra sweet. Plus, he was weak now—none of that old, stubborn, noisy energy. He lay on Chadwick Fullner’s chest, listening to him read a story. At first Finn chimed in here and there, then he got tired and went quiet. Chadwick Fullner turned off the light so he could sleep.
- It was dead quiet in the dark—so quiet Chadwick Fullner thought Finn was out—when the kid suddenly scooted closer and whispered, “Daddy, can I ask you something?”
- Finn kept his voice super low—obviously scared of waking Samantha Wembley. Chadwick Fullner lowered his voice too. “Sure. Go on.”
