Zheng was alarmingly meticulous—he’d made folders for every single person, even split by industry. One after another, Chad opened them up, and there it was—loads of gold. Especially the things he and Madison Sawyer had been hunting for—they all spilled right out. The proof Donnie Burns and Ran Yuming had told them to look for was finally laid out in front of them. The more Chad sorted, the more amped he got, until he couldn’t sleep at all. He knew these files were enough to nail Zheng Mingjie to the wall.
• Chad forced himself to calm down. He didn’t want to wake Madison Sawyer or Kate Penrose, so he smoked alone and thought through the plan. As dawn broke, he couldn’t hold it in anymore. He called Madison and Kate, one by one. Sharing good news was one part, but the main point was to figure out how to use the material for maximum impact. Bottom line: do whatever it takes to expose every last piece of Zheng Mingjie’s crimes.
