Chapter 11 Part-Time Husband (1)

  • "Silly, that's because your dad is a European. As for me, I'm a Calcoian. I only worked in Europe, so I definitely won't look like a European. Take a look. If I look like a European, doesn't that mean you would look like a European too? That classmate of yours, does he look like his dad?" Chadwick explained with a smile.
  • "Oh, that's right!" The child turned his head and nodded.
  • "All right, sit here with Daddy. I'll order your favorite pizza for you." Samantha put Finn on the chair and looked at Chadwick. Soon after, she went outside to order some food. This school was indeed huge, and it seemed like there were all kinds of things for children to eat and wear.
  • "Are you really my daddy?" Finn's eyes widened as he stared at Chadwick.
  • "This isn't something you should be questioning. Of course, I'm your daddy! If I'm not your daddy, why would I follow your mommy to come here and see you?"
  • "Then, what's my name?"
  • "Finn Wembley!"
  • "Then, what's your name?"
  • "My name is Chadwick Fullner," Chadwick said. Afterward, he seemed to realize something was off.
  • "Liar! You're not my Daddy at all! Everyone else shares the same surname as their Dads. So, why is my surname Wembley and yours Fullner?"
  • Chadwick frowned when he heard that; however, he immediately said, "That's because you took after your mommy's family name. You take after her because she loves you more. Is your mommy's last name Wembley?"
  • The child nodded when he finally realized that it was true. "Yes! Mommy's last name is Wembley, and mine too. I took after Mommy's last name!"
  • Still, the child asked Chadwick with uncertainty, "Are you really my daddy?"
  • Chadwick could only nod and say, "Yes, I am."
  • At that moment, Samantha came over with the food and asked her son with a smile, "What are you two talking about?"
  • "Mommy, is he really my daddy?"
  • "Of course! He truly is your daddy. Well, your daddy has been working in Europe all the time. He was very busy with work, so he never came back. Now that he has returned to work in Calcoa, he can come to see you every Wednesday with me," Samantha said while feeding her son.
  • Once again, Finn's eyes widened as he asked Chadwick, "You're my daddy. Then, does that mean you're Mommy's husband?"
  • Likewise, Chadwick stared at Samantha with widened eyes once more as Finn's question had landed him in a difficult spot yet again.
  • "Yes, of course. Your daddy is my husband. All right, let's eat. Why do you have so many questions?" she asked. Then, she glanced at Chadwick and added, "Eat as well, Chadwick. Go there and order anything you want to eat."
  • "No! He's not my daddy!"
  • "Why did you say 'no' again?" At this point, Samantha was a little haggard.
  • Finn quickly questioned when he found a discrepancy, "You called him by his name just now. The other classmates said their mothers called their daddy 'dear' or 'honey'." Oftentimes, some logic was this ridiculously simple in children's hearts.
  • She frowned when she heard that and said to her son, "What do you kids talk about every day? Who said that mothers must call fathers that way? Sometimes it's just their parents who refer to each other that way."
  • "If you don't call him that, I won't believe that he's my daddy! You're lying! You're both lying to me! I don't have a daddy at all. They all said that I don't have a daddy." Finn suddenly burst into tears.
  • Samantha could not help but say in irritation due to Finn's questions and tantrum, "Fine, fine. I'll call him that!" Then, she looked at Chadwick and her face instantly crimsoned. She parted her lips several times but could not bring herself together to address him in such intimate terms.
  • In the end, she gritted her teeth and uttered to Chadwick, "You say it."
  • "Me?!"
  • "Yes! Say it!" Samantha glared at Chadwick. No matter how hard she tried, she could not say it aloud. So, she decided to throw this problem to Chadwick.
  • "I-I—what should I call you?" He also became frustrated.
  • "What do you think you should call me? Didn't you hear what our son just said? Hurry up and say it!" She glared at him. In reality, she was forcing him to say it so that she herself could get away from saying something so embarrassing.
  • Unfortunately, he still could not say it after parting his lips several times. How can I address a woman whom I have just met in such an intimate manner?
  • Samantha lowered her voice and urged him in a muffled voice when she saw that he was suffering as she was, "Hurry up, or I'll deduct your salary!
  • Chadwick glared at her when he heard that. Here goes nothing! Under the threat of a salary deduction, he gritted his teeth and shouted, "Honey!" After he exclaimed that, they blushed in embarrassment. This endearing term is really way too cheesy.
  • She scolded Finn with flushed cheeks, "Okay! So now, do you believe us? Eat!"
  • "Call each other like this in the future. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I have a daddy! I finally have a daddy!" Finn shouted excitedly from his seat. Then, suddenly, he took Chadwick's hand and said, "Come with me, Daddy."
  • "What's wrong?"
  • "Just come here!"
  • "Go on!" She nodded when she saw Chadwick asking for her opinion.
  • Thus, he could only follow Finn outside.
  • Samantha saw that Finn was holding Chadwick's hand as they walked to the next table. Then, he stood beside the table and declared to the other boy, "Levi Thompson! See? This is my daddy! I have a daddy and he has just returned from Europe. You're not allowed to say that I have no daddy in the future!"
  • The parents at this table were a little surprised while Chadwick was also feeling a little awkward. He smiled and said to the parents, "Sorry. I'm sorry to bother you."
  • Just after Chadwick finished speaking, Finn took him to another table again and repeated the same thing to another child. It was as if Finn was taking an oath of sovereignty because he was arrogant and overbearing while introducing Chadwick to others.
  • Samantha's eyes couldn't help but turn red-rimmed when she saw this scene before her eyes. Just from Finn's actions alone, she could see how much her son longed for a father and father's love.
  • Finn took Chadwick and walked around most parts of the school to tell every friend and teacher he knew that he had a father and introduced Chadwick to everyone.
  • "Daddy, they have often bullied me. They said they bullied me because I don't have a father. In the future, I shall see whether they dare to beat me up. If they beat me up the next time, I'll ask you to come. You will whack them up for me, right?
  • "How can this be? You are a man! How can you ask your parents to help you with such things as fighting? I'm telling you that when it comes to fighting, what matters is who is more ruthless. Do you understand? In the future, you beat whoever lays their hands on you. You fight back so hard that he is afraid and won't dare to lay a hand on you ever again," Chadwick replied as he shook his head.
  • "But Mommy won't allow me to fight. She said I should inform the teacher if someone beats me up."
  • "How can that be? It's a cowardly act to report to the teacher about a fight. If you're a man, you would have to fight for real! We have to fight the opponent with our own strength. Beat him up until he doesn't dare to beat you in the future, but listen, don't beat someone up if that person didn't beat you. If there are people beating you, you have to fight back. If they hit you at 80%, you must return the favor at 100%. You must not let yourself be at a disadvantage. You must win. It's fine if you really can't win the fight. You have to show your fighting spirit. You'll win if you beat them up to the point that they won't dare to fight you in the future. So, are you a man?"
  • "Yes, I am a man!"
  • "What should you do if you're a man?"
  • "I must win the fight!"
  • "That's right! I'll tell you a secret. I never told the teacher or my parents when someone beat me up. I just fight them and beat them harder than they beat me. There were a lot of people who bullied me at first, but they were all scared after getting beaten up by me later. After that, no one dared to bully me in school and they all listened to me. How's that? Aren't I amazing?" Chadwick said triumphantly while holding Finn in his arms.
