Chapter 1072 The Deadlock (VII)
- Chadwick Fullner froze. He honestly never expected Madison Sawyer—always pampered like a princess, dropping tens or hundreds of thousands on a necklace or a bag—to tell him a ten-yuan candied haw was too pricey and to quit wasting money. And now she wanted to sell her jewelry and handbags. Sure, they were stressing over cash for the stock buy, but their daily life wasn’t crashing. Seeing Madison like this felt cruel to herself.
- “Madison, don’t do this, okay? We’re not that broke. Not yet, really. I know I’m weak and poor. I can’t help you bottom-fish the market and snatch Regal Peaks back in one go. But at the bare minimum, I can keep your life steady right now and then figure out the rest. You doing this makes my chest ache. It makes me feel useless—like I drove you to the point you have to sell your own stuff. Madison, I swear to you, no matter what, I won’t let you worry about day-to-day living. Not even a little.”
- Madison didn’t budge, firm as stone. “Chad, I know your heart’s in it for me. But I’ve really decided. This might be trouble we’ll never see again in our lifetime. Extreme times, extreme moves. Pride can get tossed aside. As long as you don’t ask me to kneel to Finn Wembley or sell myself and my dignity, I’ll do whatever it takes.”
