Chapter 1113 Life or Death (VIII)
- Yasmin Langston wasn’t someone you could push around. She knew his temper too. She snorted. “Have a little conscience, will you? How much money did he just make back for you? How much loss did he cover? How big a share did he grab for you in the market? Now the whole of Millsborough knows Jiajia’s grapes are going for a cliff-drop price, right? And you’re whining about some medical bills? Don’t kid me—I know you. Since when do you ever take a loss and swallow it? Huiyi picked this fight, and now that Keith Branwell’s beaten up like this, you’re going to pay his bills for Huiyi? That doesn’t sound like you, Chadwick Fullner. When have you ever done a losing deal?”
- “You keep undercutting me and I’ll dock your pay, believe it or not?” Chadwick Fullner fired back at Yasmin. Then he whipped out his phone and snapped several shots of Keith. “When he gets better, I’ll show him what he looked like. Hey, wait a second—this isn’t right. If it were a TV show, the minute I walk in he’d wake up, grab my hand, tears streaming, and choke out, ‘director, we did it!’ Isn’t that how it always goes? Why’s he still out cold? Totally off-script. Don’t tell me he’s already awake and just faking it to milk a few more days of sick leave.”
- Chad was used to trading jabs with Keith and Yasmin. For years, nobody had dared joke with him like the old days. Now that he’d finally let go of that knot in his chest—and with Keith defenseless—he went to town badmouthing him behind his back.
