  • Keith was truly moved, so those heartfelt words just slipped out. Chadwick Fullner didn’t overthink it. He still had to prep for the massive shipment about to roll in. “Got it. I’ll remember. Tough it out on the way back, then take a real break.”
  • Keith agreed, hung up, and waited until every crate of grapes was loaded and the trucks pulled out. He called to the crew, then hopped in his rental and hit the road, heading straight back to Millsborough.
  • To beat the clock, keep the grapes fresh, and get them on shelves fast for a better price, Keith couldn’t afford to wait. He tailed the first batch of cold-chain trucks—hundreds of thousands of pounds of fruit—onto the highway overnight. Except for quick stops at service areas to refuel, grab a bite, and stretch, he barely paused. Just before dawn, they finally exited the highway into Millsborough. Once the load hit the cold storage, his job would be done. Thinking that, Keith’s eyelids, heavy as anchors a moment ago, snapped open. He chugged a can of energy drink and pressed on.
