Chapter 2 Wicked Woman

  • "I'll make a complaint if you don't open them," she said curtly.
  • "You… Okay, fine. Fine, you win!" Chadwick's face flushed with anger, but he whisked out a cutter from his bag and opened the packages for her one by one in resignation.
  • "Look here, this is fine, and this one as well. This… doesn't have a problem as well." After opening all 11 packages in one shot, he piled them on the ground and said, "Will you sign it off now?"
  • "Give me the pen." Samantha then signed the invoice after snatching the pen from him.
  • Just when he took the invoice back from her and was about to leave on his bike, she stopped him.
  • "Hang on."
  • "What else do you want, madam? You don't have to be so polite and invite me for dinner at home because you feel guilty. I work in the service industry, and I'm Thor, who doesn't need to eat," he said sarcastically, still feeling disgruntled.
  • "Dream on. Carry all these things into the house," she ordered, pointing at the pile of stuff on the floor.
  • "Are you serious, madam? I'm a courier, not a porter. I've already delivered the packages to your doorstep, and you're now asking me to carry them into your house? The objective of our service is delivery to the doorstep, and we didn't mention into the house. I'm sorry, but you can carry them by yourself!" he answered haughtily. Since she had already signed the invoice, he didn't have to worry about her making things difficult for him.
  • "So, you're not carrying them? I'll complain to your company if you don't do it," Samantha said, taking out her phone.
  • "Alright, alright. You're the master, and I'm your slave, okay? We can just talk things out. It's just carrying some stuff, isn't it? No biggie. Just tell me directly, and I'll bring them inside for you. It's boring if you keep bringing up a complaint. Couldn't there be the most basic form of friendliness and trust between people?" Chadwick suddenly lost all his temper and got off his bike submissively when he heard that she would file a complaint against him again. Still, out of habit, his mouth couldn't stop lamenting as he started to carry the stuff on the ground.
  • "Be gentle. If any of these are broken, you won't be able to compensate for it with that small wage of yours." She turned and walked into the villa, utterly ignoring his protests.
  • While he carried the stuff, he followed behind her and scoffed, "Oh, God, I can just tell with one look that she lacks a man and has a hormonal imbalance."
  • "What did you say? I dare you to say it one more time." She spun around and met his eyes furiously.
  • "N-Nothing. I said that you're young and successful, gentle and kind. That's right. You're gentle and kind. I didn't say anything else," he said, hurriedly making up something else.
  • "You better watch your mouth." Then, after she threw him a fierce glare, she knocked on the door and a middle-aged woman, who looked like the house nanny, came to answer the door.
  • "You're home, ma'am!"
  • "Yeah, bring them in," Samantha said flatly and walked in.
  • "Where should I place it?" Chadwick asked in annoyance, stepping into the villa with a pile of stuff in his arms.
  • "Place them on the coffee table. Open up the packaging for me and then throw them out," she instructed as she paced into the house without even turning back to look at him.
  • "You! Do you really take me as your family's laborer? For every package I deliver every day, I only earn two bucks, and for that two bucks, I have to be your porter and your cleaner, and you even want to complain about me. For one complaint, I'll be fined five hundred. Did I owe you something in my previous life or what?" Finally, Chadwick could take it anymore, and he dropped everything on the coffee table.
  • Just then, the house nanny, Mrs. Palmer, hurriedly said, "It's alright. ma'am, I can take these things out."
  • "Madam, it's okay. It's not a big deal to throw out the garbage. I'm going out anyway, so it's just on the way, but the problem isn't about taking out the garbage. It's about her attitude. The important thing is, she has gone overboard, you know?" When he saw that the caretaker had rushed over and was opening the packaging with him, he said to Samantha, "Hey, Madam, may I ask a favor from you?"
  • "Tell me, what is it?" she asked seriously.
  • "I'm begging you, please don't use our company for your purchases in the future, okay? If you use our company, I'll be the one to deliver it to this area, and I sincerely feel that I'm not good enough to be of your service. I need to live too. Also, I have my elders and young ones to look after. Suppose you keep placing orders like this once every few days, what little of my salary won't be enough for the fines. So, please be kind and have pity on a small courier like me," he said while he took out a huge pile of rubbish.
  • "You—" Samantha pointed a trembling finger at him and was so angry at the things he said that she was stumped for words.
  • "That's enough. I already said not to keep me for dinner. You're welcome. See you. Oh, no. Let's not see each other again." He continued as he walked to the door and even closed it after himself.
  • "Just my luck. In the future, I better make a detour if I run into such a gorgeous woman. No wonder the fortune-teller said that I'd be 'lucky' with women this year. Look how 'lucky' I am today. Argh, my five hundred!" Chadwick went on relentlessly while riding away.
  • "Huh? Ma'am, this bottle looks a little scratched," Mrs. Palmer said, holding up a bottle not long after Chadwick had left.
  • "Let me take a look." Samantha came over and took the small, delicate bottle from her. Sure enough, there was an obvious scratch on it.
  • "Go and get him back," she said hurriedly.
  • Mrs. Palmer ran out but returned, saying, "He's already gone."
  • Samantha glanced outside and walked out with the bottle in her hand. Then, she went after him in her own car.
  • Chadwick felt his heart wrenching as he recalled his fine that totaled up to 500 and sighed. Then, with a stick of cigarette that only cost him five per pack, he rode his three-wheeler bike and hummed, "Ah, five hundred, you're a hundred more than four hundred. Ah, five hundred, you're a hundred less than six hundred. Oh, my five hundred! Why did you leave me just like that? I can't bear to let you go!"
  • He had just turned onto the road with his bike after leaving the neighborhood when he saw a child about five years of age dashing to the middle of the road to pick up a ball. But this time, a small car suddenly came speeding from the opposite direction. The speed was very high, and it drove directly at the child without slowing down.
  • Chadwick's eyes turned round and large from watching, and he tossed aside the cigarette in his mouth. Then, he immediately jumped off his electric bike and bolted straight to the child. After that, he held the child in his arms and fell to the ground, rolling over a few times until he reached the other side of the road. Meanwhile, the driver of the car seemed to have noticed that there was someone in front of them after they saw Chadwick, and they hit the brakes and turned the steering wheel around. Chadwick literally rolled away from the side of the car tires, and he was only inches away from the tires running over him.
  • With the child in his arms, he barrelled to the side of the road. Only he knew clearly of the terror from earlier. In all honesty, his heart was pounding against his chest now, and he was covered in sweat. However, before he could even get up, a loud bang boomed, and he spun his head around only to see that the small car had crashed into a wall on the side of the street, which was the neighborhood wall. All four wheels were facing upward, and the car had completely flipped.
  • As it turned out, the driver was a little distracted earlier and didn't realize that there was a child in the middle of the road until Chadwick, the adult, had run over. Only then did they discover a child was in front of their car. Panic-stricken, they blocked their steering wheel. In addition to the car's high speed, the entire car spun around on the ground a few times and only came to a stop after hitting the wall.
  • Chadwick placed the child on the ground and said, "Go back quickly to look for your mom and tell her to bring you for a checkup at the doctor's to see if you're hurt anywhere. Go now."
  • After saying that, he quickly ran toward the small car. The car was overturned, and the driver had already passed out, completely unconscious. In addition, Chadwick saw the most deadly point—the car's fuel had started to leak. Also, for some reason, a fire had broken out at a part next to the car tire. According to the scenes from Hollywood blockbuster films, Chadwick reckoned that an explosion would happen soon; even if there weren't one, it would also start to burn. If he didn't get the driver out as quickly as possible, he was worried that the driver would lose their life in the car.
