Chapter 1082 A Turn for the Better (VII)
- “No, no. Like I said, I wasn’t planning to make any decision before. But I’m the kind of person who prepares for everything. So I asked my attorney to draft a contract ahead of time based on the terms I had in mind. My legal advisor happened to be traveling, so he didn’t come with me. If today’s talk went well, we could sign right away and get things rolling. Saves everyone a lot of time, right?” Donnie Burns flashed an easy smile. “Of course, if this meeting went sideways or I wasn’t satisfied, I wouldn’t have brought the contract out at all.”
- That did make sense, so Madison Sawyer relaxed. She picked up the contract and started discussing it with Kate Penrose and Mr. Fullner.
- Because it mattered a lot, Madison didn’t dare slack. She read it line by line. For the most part, the terms in Donnie’s contract matched what he’d just said. There were just a few details. Madison went over them carefully with Donnie Burns, then took the initiative to give a little ground—she raised Donnie’s equity to eight percent, and also bumped up his share in the project. “Mr. Burns is stepping in when we’re in a pinch, and he’s generous. I can’t let him take a loss,” Madison said with a smile.
