Chapter 1177 Who Belongs to Whom (Part I)

  • If it was just a joke, then what was up with Kate Penrose cramming her car full of Doraemon dolls? For a split second, Mr. Chadwick Fullner saw a scene as clear as a photo: Kate sitting in the car, quietly hugging the biggest Doraemon on the passenger seat, her brows lowered so he couldn’t read her face—but he could feel that deep, hollow loneliness in her, that helplessness. She might even have been crying. Because that’s her: she looks strong, but inside she’s fragile—especially when she’s trapped in a dead-end love. She’ll choose to let go without a sound, but those wounds in her heart—how do they settle? So she leans on things that don’t feel back, on their fake, fleeting warmth, just to vent the pain once in a while.
  • “Oh my God, sis, you actually bought this many Doraemon dolls?” Madison Sawyer blurted, stunned. “You like Doraemon? Since when? You never watched cartoons growing up. And these plushies—weren’t you never into them?”
  • Madison snapped back to herself, staring at Kate in surprise. Kate looked hugely awkward. Madison blinked, then burst out laughing: “I get it! Finn Wembley gave them to you, didn’t he? Finn, you’ve got nerve—so many at once, and you can’t stew ’em for dinner either. I’m telling you, one would’ve been enough.” She waved, excited. “Just match your build and custom-make a life-size one.”
