Chapter 9 Dreams And Nightmares

  • Just as she had promised, Nat watched over her baby sister. Their family was still exploring the pyramids, but Nat's family occasionally checked in. It had been a long day, but thanks to the divide and conquer, they were able to learn much about this place. Natalya had learned so much in a short amount of time which made Vera happy. This meant that Vera didn't have to relive the past over and over and began enjoying the break. Though there still posed the question of how safe they were. That was the million-dollar question, for none of them knew the answer. Caelan finally spoke to his family since he was the family leader, "I think we are safer to stay here and maybe search for supplies." We have the advantage here: we can see everything without being seen."
  • Isadora kept silent momentarily, listening to what her children had to say about their father's decisions. Already, Santiago and Diego stated that this place was boring, and they wanted to leave here as soon as possible. It wasn't about safety or security, but it was based more on this place wasn't the island where they had been raised. Ramirez was more like his mother, being that he was more of a listener and thinker. She spoke only when his thoughts were organized, not going by emotions. On the other hand, his brothers were far more vocal about their thoughts and opinions. They were much like their father in his youth, being more adventurous than looking before he leaped. It was a different story because he was a father of five and had his wife who, although she was more substantial than he, with the slave bracelet, made her vulnerable. Ramirez looked at everything he had learned while being here and stood up, "If we go to a populated area, we run the risk of getting separated. We stay here and must be smart about supplies; this would be the better option since we don't need much to survive. I agree with father." He also remembered what they had learned from listening to Vera and Nat about this place. They stood a greater chance of being hidden here, much better than living around humans or going to another tropical place. Here they could reinforce the traps that had been set up and be able to keep an eye out for adventures and explorers. Ramirez brothers groaned after they were outvoted, but Nat persuaded them to rethink their stance. After convincing them about what was here, they were no longer annoyed about being out-voted but couldn't wait to further the exploration of this place. If blood was the main issue, their mother had come up with a conclusion about what they could do, which settled the discussion about supplies. As the night went on, Nat was back into researching this location, though Vera thought it would take Nat longer to learn; it didn't. While everyone slept, Nat continued researching and jotting down notes any way possible because there wasn't much here to write on. She looked up once at her family, their mother and father resting something rare for them. Ramirez and his brothers camped by the entrance while her kid sister snuggled with the lynx. Those two she noticed had a very close relationship. Jett wasn't a pet to the family but a family even though she was lynx. She was about to go back to reading when she looked over and saw her mother's bracelet's stone that began to glow. That was strange, for the stone never glowed before, or she didn't remember ever doing anything. She quickly grabbed a blanket and covered the stone, for the energy coming off of the stone gave her chills. "Momma, wake up. Momma." Nat nudged her mother up, not wanting to wake up anyone else. Finally, her mother's eyes opened, revealing her coppery eyes staring back at her daughter, "What's wrong, daughter?"
  • "Look, momma." Nat uncovered her mother's bracelet revealing the stone which was no longer glowing, but before her mother was about to ask, the stone began to glow again. She quickly covered the stone with Nat's material, "Shit."
