Chapter 33 Love And Truth

  • He smiled softly and put down the book he'd been reading. "I suppose it is hard for one so young to imagine what it must have been like." He leaned toward her, his gaze intense. "It would not have mattered when you were born; I would have sought you out, Bianca."
  • His words sent shivers through her, and she wished they could stay like this forever. "Come," he whispered, pulling her up into his arms. He slowly danced with her while surrounded by candles and soft music. She laid her head against his chest, though she was much shorter than he was; he had lifted her up as though she was as light as a feather. The warmth emanating from his body made her feel safe and cherished. She closed her eyes and concentrated on his heartbeat, matching it with hers until it felt like they were beating as one. The night passed quickly, filled with laughter and stories, and before she knew it, dawn was breaking across the horizon. Though there was much to do on the ranch, she couldn't help but get lost in his world. He was a part of history that couldn't be tamed or truly understood. She wasn't tired, but she had many nights of sleep. Most of the time, it was of him when she wasn't with him.
  • "What were you like back then?" She asked while her fingers played against his skin. He smiled and stroked her hair, taking a moment to think about it before speaking. "I was much like I am now, though perhaps more wild and reckless. I enjoyed the freedom of being able to ride for days without seeing another soul. The land was still untamed then, and the people who lived on it were just as wild.
