Chapter 64 Dinner Party

  • He couldn't help but notice Bree with those captivating, light, coffee-colored eyes. Her deep, dark red hair flowed past her shoulders against her lightly toasted cream-colored skin, drawing his attention to her body. The dress she wore showed some of her curves, but she wasn't putting her business out there as his date was tonight. Bree was young, he knew, but she wasn't clueless about how the world worked, either. No, Bree, in her own right, had what most women would want, but it came with a price. Even though her dress wasn't revealing, he could see that she did take care of herself. There was no doubt about that, and it made Mikhail enjoy his view even more, even if it made his date jealous, which could be seen from Tokyo. Throughout the meal, Bree sipped her wine as the others spoke highly about her family. She was asked how she liked it here, and though Bree wasn't exactly fluent in their language, she knew enough to respond to let them all know she loved it and that it had been a while since she had been in her family's home, their own castle that would put most homes to shame. She knew the house was much too big for her, and honestly, she wasn't going to be using every room. Her staff, the guards, and everyone who worked with and around her had their own private quarters. None of those who lived within her home had to worry about rent or a house payment; they only paid their own bills they accrued for their own agendas. Once the main course was completed, everyone went silent. Most of them already knew why the Prime Minister had come here to begin with. It was finally time for him to step up to the plate with the plans that he and others had made right after the funeral and put the decision into action. So when the Prime Minister of Bulgaria stood up, every eye in the room was on him, and he spoke both in English and then again in his native tongue of Bulgaria. Everyone else raised their glasses and toasted. Only after the Prime Minister had taken his seat did his eyes become serious, as did the tone in his voice. He then asked the most essential question: he wanted to know her plans with her family's estates and what she planned to do. They needed to know what her intentions were, and if she did sell, would she leave here for good? Even though her family was respected, it was out of fear that none would betray her. After the family gained a fair amount of power through politics, they were, in a way, untouchable. She had no idea what she wanted to do, but there was one thing she was determined to do: make her parents proud. Something that her family was known to do in the States was to give back to the community, and here, she wasn't going to leave her family's affairs in the hands of anyone who didn't share her blood. She would take her place here because it was what her grandparents had requested her to do in their Will. "I will be making this place my permanent home. Of course, the responsibilities that were once my loved ones are mine now to acquire."

  • This was not good; the Prime Minister and the others had plans that would have been a new cash flow, especially with the new investors who were counting on him to get rid of heiress.
