Chapter 5 Forbidden Love And Secret Affairs

  • Her room wasn't near his at least, but it was on the same floor. Others in the house stood for her though she wasn't their princess or over them, she was the property of Dagan von Draak, she wore the armor specifically designedd for her and though she could go most places where she pleased, she also at times had to be escorted. She trained with the others but most times she trained alone for she preferred to be that way, it was hard enough to realize that her freedom was not her own, but this she knew was the cost. Everyday she learned something about the kingdom, her duties were simple enough. When her master had a need of her, she was to fulfill it though there were times he came to her room rather than she going to his. There were times hee had his needs met by others, which didn't hurt her there was nothing emotionally between them. In court she stood directly behind her master, as others soon realized who she was and her reputation of being the Butcher had spread. There were times her eyes met Caelan and though she looked at him she had to look away for it hurt her not tell him she was sorry for the night she ran from him. It was the last night of her freedom, now she could only watch from the distance for she knew honor before treachery. She had already hurt Caelan once, she would not cause him further pain. She kept her face, her presence was like a stoned gargoyle. She didn't reveal the pain she felt but at times she saw Caelan that he too had missed that night where they danced and they were the only ones in their world. She would keep that always hidden in her heart for it was her duty to protect the Master and do as he commanded no matter what the cost was. As time went on, she would go on and escort Dagen from time to time, though their encounters were far and few, it was mainly when he was in those moods without the commitment. Her missions were not like the others, she was given a task and when she came back she brought back with the target's heart or head, sometimes both. Time had passed on and they were able to adjust and blend, the government knew that creatures existed but because bulk of the funds came from the vampires and lyans, an agreement was made that the humans wouldn't interfere as long as the creatures didn't draw too much attention, but officials were easily paid off. The year was 1885, already much of the world was evolving into economic and growth, industries were thriving as cities emerged instead of small villages like back in the day. The people of the kingdom soon left and others that stayed they were not immortal. She and those loyal to Dagen left Scotland and went to Africa where most of the places were hidden from the rest of the world. It was where she was able to do some research about herself, for she happened to discover that during these times, people were exploring the ancients ruins and she read about some of the findings. Their hidden world remain hidden, as well as their master's riches, though he had a new place built it wasn't too far from Eastern Europe, this was where he and other vampires had reformed the vampire laws. Later Dagen did get married and with his second wife, she had given birth to son who was named Viktor von Draak. Carissa who was now the Lady of the House didn't care too much for Isadora, however her husband wouldn't waver on sending Isadora elsewhere. He still had his affairs with Isadora, though it was known for Carissa sake she was never to know why Isadora was to be the Master's person guard. However that wasn't the only secret that was kept, it was some time after Dagen had married and his wife having their son Viktor, that Isadora and Caelan had taken the chance. He had waited for her though there were many times he wanted to forget her, and move on even if that had meant for him to leave and never come back. However, no matter how hard he tried to forget her, he couldn't just leave not knowing the truth about how she felt about him. He learned that she had always loved him, she couldn't accept it. When she tried to make him hate her, he couldn't. She had many times tried to get him to understand that Dagen would never let her go, that it was pointless of them trying to have anything when they both knew that she was forever enslaved to Dagen. However, she would soon cave in knowing that she couldn't put him off any longer for they were willing to risk it all just to be able to meet on the side. They kept their love, their relationship silent, even though she was never to be touched by another it was pointless to fight their urges for each other. She had tried but being in his arms felt so right. She knew how to keep secrets as did Caelan, who covered his tracks just as she did. For it was familiar, Jett who were their eyes whenever danger came too close that would give away their secret. The love he gave her was worth the dangers that could be right around the corner, even as her hands gripped his flesh whenever he penetrated her or when she was on top, riding him back and forth gasping with every movement, it was the thrill that made their love making even more excited. She had finally accepted Caelan's love wishing many times she had accepted him long time ago.
  • *****NEW CHAPTER****
  • Here they were laying next to each other, his hands touching her smooth skin, even after they had made love tonight, she saw some sadness in his eyes. When there should have been some brief moment of smiles in their darken world. However, from his eyes she knew what this was about, and she didn't know if she could. She had changed sometime after becoming Dagen's pet, she no longer felt like herself. She knew it even though she tried to ignore it but she was losing herself.
  • "What's wrong Caelan?"
  • "This isn't right. He should have already set you free. He is married now and has a child to carry on his name. Why keep you?"
  • Her rugged barbarian, over time had changed some not with age but his appearance keeping his hair shoulder length where it use to be longer at one point he had chopped it off for he had left for battle under orders for their was power to be gain and though she would have been an assest, Dagen had refused to let her go with the others. This wasn't the first time they have had this discussion, she was bound to be Dagen's pet, forever his though he could carry on his merry way, she was forced to hide her love for Caelan.
  • "What if I ask him, all he would have to do is drink my blood and see our deception. I cannot watch another one that I love die in front of me. We have this at least."
  • "Why can't we run?"
  • "Where would we go? I am not exactly easy to keep hidden." She pointed at her eyes that were unique and well known to other creatures for her eyes and herself, she stood out so easily.
  • "I do have abilities, like the illusion. I could change you till we are far away from here."
  • "There is too much to risk. I took a risk once, and it cost me my mother, and then it cost me my freedom."
  • "We could go to the Americas, there are places there that we can stay hidden. Maybe find a way to break that bracelet. Besides, you know he is afraid of you and what you could do."
  • She got up when her lynx gave her sight of who was coming back home from his journey North. "I'll think about it. Leave before you and I are found. We will talk some more about this but you must go now."
  • Though he wanted to stay and no longer caring of exposing their forbidden love, he knew also that Dagen wasn't easily killed and that would be another leverage to be held over Isadora's head. He left for he had her scent on him and he would need to get rid of her scent though he cherished what little they had. She quickly ran into the water and though Dagen wasn't expected to come to her tonight, she still had to be careful for she couldn't risk giving herself away. The last couple of days, Carissa had made Isadora's life hell, though Isadora couldn't blame how the woman felt about what was being kept from her. Only because Dagen wanted his wife and his mistress, he had become a tyrant and power hungry. For with Isadora as his pet, no one would dare go up against him. For she killed when he demanded it even though she refused to slay the innocent he had her whipped for refusing and because she was defiant she was made to watch them being tortured and after that she did as she was told though inside she was hating herself. He had made her stop doing research about herself, for she hadn't found anything and to him she was only wasting her time that could have been put to use, like in his bed. Carissa had given him another son, a blonde boy named Konstantin von Draak.
  • Isadora was angry at herself because she was becoming exactly what she hated, she had sworn to herself to never be confined, she hated herself for allowing herself to be claimed by someone who allowed power to corrupt him. She had told him that they being together was poisonous to each other. She was right. She too had a secret that she hadn't revealed to Caelan, for she was pregnant. Her hurt was that she didn't know if it was his or Dagen because before Dagen had left for his journey, he made sure to have his fill of her. Which angered Caelan, but she had many times tried convincing Caelan to move without her, and find someone who wasn't tied or bound to another. Yet, he refused believing that one day Dagen would set her free once he knew she was no longer a threat to him. He wasn't giving up that hope knowing that he had found his world in her. Now with the life in her womb she had to make decisions soon enough, to run and try live in hiding or endure until she found the one who cursed Yvette and then bargain for her freedom. She hadn't anticapted to falling in love though to say there wasn't something between her and Caelan from the beginning. She thought by accepting the fate that Caelan would grow to hate her and move on. However, she was only kidding herself by believing that. What was between them grew and it wasn't long before she found herself in his arms and ever since then she had signed Caelan's death warrant if Dagen ever learned the truth.
  • *****NEW CHAPTER****
  • The chances of Dagen learning what was going on behind his back was more a reality than before and thoughts of Dagen learning that she was pregnant alone would make him furious. He had a wife for that he told her, he wasn't looking to fathered bastards outside his marriage. She had learned before she was pregnant and he had made sure that she had lost the baby. It was the hardest time for her this was before she and Caelan had made love. That was when she started resenting Dagen for he knew that this could happen but still he kept her on the side, now there was life again growing inside her the fear of her losing the child but also Dagen learning that Caelan was the father and that Caelan had betrayed his master.
  • She stopped short of the road back to the manison she could hear her heart beating and having to calm herself down for she woud surely give herself away, but thoughts of leaving and not returning, seemed to becoming more and more a reality. She had to think of what was best now for her unborn baby and a sign that she had paid her debt for killing Yvette, even if it set his young sister free from her nightmare. It had created a whole a new nightmare for Isadora. Jett coming from the shadows and sitting by Isadora's feet, even Jett knew that it was time for her to rejoin the living and get way from here. She too missed the freedom of them traveling and even now Jett gave Isadora a look letting her know that Isadora had lost herself and needed to regain power back over her life.
  • "You're right Jett, it's time."
  • Though the walk back to the castle wasn't too far away and she knew that she needed to get back but instead she wanted to enjoy this night, for she knew that this might be the only peace she would have for a while. Her thoughts about leaving even without Caelan would be best for the both of them, it would be for the best because the risk of him being killed over her, she kknew she had enough blood on her hands. However, her child deserved to have both mother and father in her life, something she didn't the have the luxury of. She looked on the ground as if it was a sign, verfying her thought, it was feather from a falcon. She turned to her lynx and the her familiar knowing what to do by taking it in her mouth, this would be a sign for them to leave, hopefully she would be able to let him know they could leave tonight. Hopefully, she thought Caelan would understand the meaning of the feather, and that he would get the message safely without being ousted. It was safer for Jett to carry this back, for she could disappear and reappeared, by using her ability to dim.
  • Caelan at his post when he could see the Master's wife and children outside to greeting Dagen who had returned from his long journey, he had been gone for a little over a month, he was convening with the other vampire lords, by re-establishing the court that had been nearly deserted for some time, now. Since Dagen had Isadora as his pet, he had been able to re-established himself having gain support of the others who either feared what he could have Isadora do to them, or they too had something to gain from Dagen 's position. Because of having the power that Dagen had acquired thanks to his pet, he had taken this castle and had it remodeled some time ago, but once he had remarried and Carissa came into the picture; things had also been redone for her. That was now four years, Viktor being three and Konstantin would soon be a year old. Caelan watched from the tower, how Dagen had returned home to be greeted by his wife, Carissa, and then the three year old ran to greet his father. Anyone seeing this would think and believe how lovely this was a magical moment, but it wasn't reality. What was really happening was that the master had a normal life, behind closed doors, he had a whole other life. His wife Carissa thought her husband's mistress could come and go, but that wasn't how things worked here. Dagen after his sister had died, he had changed even more so as the years went on.
  • Dagen hugged and kissed his wife then held his sons. However, he didn't see Isadora who was suppose to be protecting his family. Behind him were others guest, a celebration was to taken place, not just for his eldest son, who was going to turn one. This was also the beginning of the covens, in many years and after so much had happened that they finally agreed to reconnect, come together under one house. Even those, who had been Dagen's sworn enemies, for so long, were now coming to end the fued. Bringing an end to the wars making the commiment to join covens for once and for all. Though he didn't see Isadora, who should have been watching over his children and of course here to prepare for the evening, as well. It was because of her that the other vampire lords knew that war was to end because they knew that she as Dagen's pet they wouldn't be able to defeat him in combat or by using assassins, for she the Butcher could sense the presence of the assasssins before they could even breath. Open war was no longer an option especially the world they were living in was ever changing. The humans were no longer considered just animals but now were considered wealth to the vampire Lords. No longer seen as the only food source but were making immense steps towards industry and commerce that it would have been foolish to ignor the profit of man.
  • Vampires were no longer in war with themselves or other creatures such as lycans, for even half breeds were no longer hated instead useful to keep the alliance of man and creature protected. Dagen looked to see his pet but she was no where to be seen and his wife Carissa could see his darting eyes looking for her, the thorn in her side. When they came inside and settle down, he spent a little more time with his son, who was excited for his daddy to be home. His infant son cooed and reached for his father's nose as his wife seated watching this would be happy scene. Though there was silence between them, for she knew he loved having this but he wasn't hers a hundred percent, and he had let her know mulitple times that she could have everything in the world but she couldn't separate Isadora from his world. For his pet was never to be allowed to leave and even when she tried to convince her husband that Isadora was in the way. He only laughed for he told her exactly where she stood in his life and where Isadora stood as well. That Carissa would have to get over how she felt.
  • *****NEW CHAPTER****
  • Carissa waited for one of the servants to come and take the kids so that she could give him a warmer welcome home. Instead he went into the room where he was giving orders, for soon the royals were on their way and he was making sure everything was being prepared for the next few days.
  • "My prince, your wife would like to give you a very warm welcome home. I have missed you."
  • He looked at her as he signal the others to go and start preparing for the guest who were on their way.
  • "I thought you said you hated me and that I should rot in hell that was what you said the last night I was home."
  • "I was angry, and as your wife not having her husband all to herself can be unnerving at times. It's almost as though you enjoy seeing two women competiting for your time and day."
  • "There is no competition my dear wife. She has no rival. Now be a good wife and pretend that you are loved beyond measures and let this be the end of this discussion."
  • He lend forward giving her a kiss though his grin revealed how he truly felt but she too felt equally hatred for him as well. Her father agreed for the arrange marriage between her and Dagen though she didn't know how much it would cost her, she hated Dagen but she hated Isadora even more. How she wished that Isadora would just fall off the face of the world, it would make him see that what he had with Carissa was strong. What he had with Isadora was physical only. He was an evil bastard even to his core, but she like many others were attracted to him as well. He could draw you in and leave you breathless, his presence was intense just as he had made love, that would make any woman melt underneath him.
  • Once she was out of sight, he summon his other guards asking where Isadora was or had they seen her, Caelan was there for he was also given the order of being told what was going on. Not one guard or soldier had seen the elusive Isadora when Keane said that she could be easily doing the night's patrol. Though she hadn't been seen since dinner, it was normal for her to go on patrol in different areas as his other guards. He looked Caelan then the others, "When she returns, alert me."
  • Caelan was about to walk away when Dagen stopped him, "Dracul is coming here, I have spoke with him. You stay because you think I will release her, but my friend I can see you two look at each other and I know that if you or her won't cut the ties then it's up to me. You are joining Dracul's ranks after this week you are to serve under his authority."
  • "You don't need her anymore Dagen, you can free her. You know she isn't any threat to you."
  • "This is exactly why you are going to be leaving Caelan. You have served me well all these years. However, I cannot risk having you two so close together anymore. It's a risk that has gone on for way too long and it's a temptation cannot be ignored anylonger. Go and get your things ready for when Dracul comes, you will leave with his men and him."
  • Caelan was about to say something but he stopped to look at Jett, she had a feather in her mouth and when Dagen went to look, there was nothing there to be seen.
  • Caelan instead said nothing else and went directly to his quarters where on his bed was Jett still holding the feather in her mouth, a smile crossed his lips for it was a message that he had been waiting for, she was no longer putting it off. He whispered into Jett's hear knowing that Isadora would be able to hear him, he said for her to run away. He will catch up to her.
  • *****NEW CHAPTER****
  • She had stopped at one of her hiding spots to put on her armor she kept out here; for it was her way making sure any scent that might have given her away would be masked. Though she did train with the others from time to time, it was expected that no other touched her or else there would be punishment for crossing the Master's line. She kept the bracelet and ring hidden with leather gloves, so that the Master's wife wouldn't see, but it was also because after wearing for so long, she resented it. Once she was in her armor, the war skirt clung to her though she preferred her old armor suit where she felt more protected, this one wasn't as least as revealing as others she had worn. Back on her mount, she led the horse through the trails, maybe she wouldn't have to be bothered by anyone tonight. She had enough on her mind and keeping her mind blank was already a task she had forced herself to accomplish. She had learned that Dagen could not only create fire from out of nowhere, but he had other abilities like mind reading and though he could like any other vampire move things with his mind, she was sure he had other talents that he hadn't fully revealed to anyone. She too had her own abilities, though she had made sure never allow herself to reveal more than what she had too. She learned she could do other things over the years, much like climbing the walls but it was the jumping onto higher buildings and being able to manuvered her body in mid air. Her eyes were more developed than before, auroras were more enhanced but her other senses had heightened as well. Like the night evil had caused her to get sick and now she had learned manage it but now if there was someone possessed, she could see the demon. She could see evil much clearer than before, but it wasn't just those things that had changed over the years. Even her inner beast had became more darker, she was abled to blend better to her surroundings. Though she hadn't had to feast too much on human's life forces as she did when she younger, it was still as important. She looked up at the sky above her, it was nights like these she had enjoyed traveling and not having a care in the world. She missed those days, climbing down from her horse she decided to walk just to enjoy this little moment of freedom. She stopped when she heard a voice telling her to runaway. It was Caelan she knew his voice and for him to be whispering into Jett's ear something must have happened. Her things were in her room, all she had on was all she had but she again heard him say for her to leave that he would find her. He had gotten her message through Jett and though she was over joyed she didn't think they would be leaving this quick so soon. Back on her horse she made her turn around, into the forest her horse ran pounding the ground beneath her strong legs. Back at the manison, Dagen still looking for his pet who hadn't been seen as others were on patrol, the area was cleared out enough that Caelan ventured into Isadora's room. He quickly watched as Jett went under the bed and began to pull out her bag that Isadora had kept hidden. It had her gear from back when and though she hadn't used it in for so long, it was good of her to have kept it. In someways the old her was in there somewhere ready to be released. Tonight, he was going to give that to her. He grabbed the bag and whatever else Jett pawed at before he leaving the rooom that once was hers. He quickly put her things into his bag before putting the rest of his things into the bag. He hadn't a clue where they were going to go, but it was going to be far from here when Keane came to the room, "The Master has called everyone but you to go and search for her. He believes she has ran away."
  • "What do you believe?"
  • Keane didn't speak above a whisper, "You two are playing a very dangerous game. Just don't be stupid Caelan, if you love her like you do then leave her alone."
  • Caelan glared and put on his traveling bag, "He is already sending me away from here to be part of Dracul's army."
  • Keane grabbed his friend's shoulder, "He means to have you killed my brother."
  • Caelan knew this deep down, "I know."
  • "If you two are going to do this, know that he will never stop hunting you two down. I for one will not. Now leave."
  • Keane was one of the eldest soldier here under Dagen's command, and he knew that Dagen had changed for the worse. He also knew that he wasn't going to watch anymore deaths happening under his watch. He watched as his friend left not knowing where he was going was something he didn't care to know. He just wanted to se them get away before this night was over.
  • *****NEW CHAPTER****
  • Caelan taking his things and getting out of this place before he was located. Dagen had ordered Caelan to be brought to the prison, but they were too late reaching him, for he was already gone. Caelan saying nothing just following quickly behind Jett, for she was the only one who knew where to find Isadora. Jett was the only who could, and Dagen knew that when he saw that Caelan had spotted the lynx. Several guards were searching and not one of them could find her, and Caelan had already left before being seen. Already the guest were showing up and they hadn't found out about this little mishap. Though they wouldn't find out right away, they would luckily they had already signed the papers, for it was the celebration to seal the deal. Regardless, he had the covens under his thumb. As the celebration continued, he awaited for word about the searches going on. Still no word on either of them, however they managed to find her horse. The horse had came back to the stable so now he knew she was on foot. He excused himself for the night's event and headed directly to her room, he was searching for anything and for he had caught a scent and it was Caelan, the bastard had been in here and he had taken Isadora's things.
  • "Your pet, she ran away. So sad."
  • He turned to see Carissa's face, "You shouldn't be gloating my dear wife. Because Isadora was the only one that was able to satisfy my needs. Now you have that responsiblity. Trust me, you will regret her leaving, too."
