Chapter 12 Destiny

  • She looked upon the faces of each of the court's High Lords before the one who had spoken the first time. She was then turning to the face of the Lycan king named Igor. Finally, her eyes rested now on her new sire, Dracul, before giving Dagen a second glance. His eyes were fierce as though he had heard the rumors and believed his pet's daughter was to blame for his trouble. His stupidity in trying to control her mother was his downfall. She still had business with him, but not now, not yet. She understood her position, which was to uphold the laws and rulings of this court, but she had other obligations, too. She knelt before the Lords of this court, "I will find him. What else must I do for this court?"
  • Each of the Lords looked at her then the Law guardians stepped forth from their seats. A woman who barely looked over thirty spoke, "For now, complete this task. When you return, there will be more for you to accomplish before you have found favor in this or any other courts hereafter."
  • She got up off her knees and walked towards the doors, for the Lords in the room, not to mention the kings and other chieftains, needed to speak without her being in their presence. On her way out, her grandfather Benjamin awaited her by the doors. Although he couldn't see her, he felt her fierce presence. Though she didn't look him in the face, not that he couldn't see her eyes, at the moment, she had to realize why she was meant to find him after all. She faced outside the door, her back away from everyone, "You know about this arrangement, then?"
