Chapter 63 Home At Last

• Once she was done with her study, she then ventured to the other rooms. She studied the layout of the first and second floors before walking to the east end of the house; it was one of the many rooms where she located the old white piano that belonged to her grandmother. Her grandmother would play it almost every day until she could no longer play on it anymore. The piano was covered for a while until Bree missed hearing the music. Then, she would occasionally unveil the white ivory piano. Her fingers danced as her eyes were closed, listening to the songs her grandmother had taught her. Even though Bree thought to herself she wasn't as gifted with her grandmother's songbird voice, she could still picture her grandmother's fingers dancing on the keys while she played one of her favorite songs her grandmother had taught her. Now, she was only left with the beautiful memories, but her loved ones were all gone. At least she had their memories to hold onto while she maneuvered through this life without them. As tears rolled down her cheek, she started playing other songs she had learned from when she was younger, and then she picked up speed, focusing on her fingers, forgetting everything around her. Being lost in the tunes until the knocking at the door broke through her concentration, and coming back to reality, she heard one of the servant's voices and realized that it would soon be time for dinner. Bree had spent the day remembering the past, that the day had slipped away, that she didn't get done with what she wanted to, but then again, she hadn't been here for so long that maybe she needed the escape.
• "Miss Valadez?" came a female voice from the other side. "I was informed to let you know that your guests were on their way. Do I need to prepare your bath for you?"
• She didn't know anything about guests. She had planned to do some work in her studies and not host dinner tonight. "Did Mrs. Cruz and Mr. Horne plan a surprise dinner for me?"
