Chapter 37 Mate

• She wondered how long it would be before they did get married. They needed to set a date, and he promised to make their wedding night unforgettable. That gave her something else to look forward to. When walking back into her family's home, she saw the boxes she had gotten from the attic. She remembered discovering the truth about her family history. Not to mention the way the people had been treating her since she had moved in. Bianca was accustomed to the stares and the murmuring; she was always the outsider in whatever environment she was in. Growing up, she would stare at herself in the mirror, trying to figure out what made others look at her strangely. She wasn't the most popular student, though some wanted to ask her out, but the rumors and comments would start, and she would find herself alone on the weekends. She had a hard enough time finding after-school jobs, but she always found something to do to earn a little extra cash. Many times, she could never see what made her so different, and then there was one day when she was in one of the stalls, and the popular girls were commenting about her being strange, not beautiful or ugly, just strange. She heard the remarks, and she believed afterward that maybe she was ugly. She had a decent figure and wore makeup to accentuate her features, but it wasn't enough for others to see her as one of them. There were some days she was told she couldn't go to school because of one thing or another, but she didn't question the motives behind her being asked to stay home. She remembered the comments about her being strange like maybe she was a witch or something. She no longer cared; she had Gerrit, and he made her feel beautiful. She was ready to put her past behind her and start a new life with Gerrit, and she had the perfect job now. He would make sure she never wanted for anything; he promised that. She couldn't wait to tell him about the boxes and everything else when he got home. They were going to have so much fun discovering their lives together.
