Chapter 38 Uncle

  • Ambrose, now that he had finally met his niece, it was time to locate her father. He had an idea of where to look for the man. He wondered, though, if his niece was prepared for what was ahead of her; this was something that had been kept from her almost all her life. It wasn't like she came into wealth from her family's treasure. No, she went in the midst of the family learning to come back together, trying to break a curse that the family as a whole would need a miracle to escape from. Hours into the night, Bianca hadn't stopped rummaging through what she was led to believe was her great-aunt's thing, now informed that the woman was really her birth mother. Bianca wondered what other secrets her family had kept hidden, but so far, everything she had gone through was written in a foreign language. She found letters and notes written for someone named Ambrose and another person, Isadora. Bianca began jotting down names, which was pretty much all she could decipher from the letters and the journal. She didn't realize it was after midnight while she had been putting the puzzle together. She figured out who the young boy was. His name was Ambrose. Though she hadn't a clue who he was, she only knew that he was somehow related to her, that he was, in fact, family. There were no birth or death certificates, just pictures, drawings, and foreign written words, and she had spent hours finding more questions than answers. Bianca wanted to go to sleep, but she knew she couldn't close her eyes with so many things on her mind. Bianca went into the kitchen to brew some fresh coffee. While trying to figure out what her next moves would be, she knew she would start with the history of this town, and of course, her lineage would be her first start. She figured the university would be the second step, but then she could travel to the graveyard. Her ancestors should have had a burial site, possibly. She jotted down a to-do list because she would be a scattered brain with no focus if she didn't. Just as she poured a second cup of coffee for herself, she saw headlights pulling into the driveway.
  • Gerrit had gone to the Covens; some members were loyal to him and were waiting for him to enter the building to be at his side. Tonight, the council didn't know that Gerrit was going to be there, not to mention that Welch was already discussing what he could do for the covens if they agreed to have Bianca removed from her family's land. As Welch was saying, she was, in fact, an outsider who could compromise the well-being of the town's people. Gerrit didn't stop Welch, for the man wasn't aware because he was so deep that when the room had grown silent, Welch realized something was different. It was too late because Gerrit heard the jest of the speech, saying that he had an obligation to marry any of the descendants rather than take an outsider as his bride and mate. "You see," Welch continued, "her family is cursed. If you marry her, you will also curse the town and everything we have been working toward. I believe this woman and her family were the reason why many of the people here were forced to move in the first place."
