Chapter 81

  • When I saw the flames glowing on the horizon, my mind began to race with images of horror. When your husband possesses the ability to destroy the city in the same way that a nuclear bomb can, times like these are extremely concerning. When you're crawling through the shitpipe of life, you learn not to stop and smell the roses. Instead, you keep crawling and pushing forward, hoping that the end of the tunnel will appear and the nightmare will be over.
  • So I concentrated on what needed to be done next. We waited an hour in the barn before heading to the outskirts of town. We arrived at the nearest residential street and Jacques proceeded to 'borrow' another car. He jacked the car, we got in, and off we went to the city cemetery to carry out my brilliant kidnapping scheme.
  • Was I sure about this plan? No, and it was clear to me that neither Casper nor Jacques were. So why were we willing to bet so much on a plan that seemed doomed? That would be pure desperation. Luc was already losing his cool, Henrietta was clearly a badass murderer, and I was growing increasingly concerned about all the dead people who were resurrected and trying to chow down on me.
