Chapter 25
- Henrietta had taught me to visualize a door that represented a gateway between my mind and Luc's when Henrietta and I practiced shutting Luc out of my mind. When I thought of the door, however, I imagined two doors. Henrietta had described the first door, but she had never explained what the second door was all about. Henrietta claimed that I have a link to the 'Other Side,' a place where the souls of the dead go after their mortal bodies die.
- I believe I went to the Other Side the night Luc murdered me. A hazy memory from the night I was turned into a vampire lingered in the back of my mind. After Luc drained my blood, I felt myself drift away from my physical body and into a place devoid of any sense of space or time. It wasn't the heaven I'd imagined as a child, complete with white clouds and heavenly angels, but it wasn't a bad place either. It was simply peaceful and quiet.
- It was from there that I heard Luc calling to me, pleading with me to return to him. I recall drifting towards him, but I also recall a small part of me remaining behind. When I awoke in Luc's bed, I assumed it was a strange dream, but now I'm not so sure.
