Chapter 15

  • I exited the bathroom with apprehension about the future. It was strange how fate had strange little ways of sprinkling chaos into our lives. It was almost natural for everyone to run into trouble at some point in their lives. Last year, during exam season, I caught the flu and was forced to sit through three exams in a drugged haze. I knew something bad was going to happen in my senior year, but I never imagined it would be vampires.
  • My estranged vampire/prince/psychopath husband, Luc, was having a fit about my relationship with Jack. I admittedly flirted with Jack in order to annoy Luc, but I had no idea that my liaisons with Jack would inadvertently endanger Jack's life.
  • My conversation with Henrietta had revealed Luc's complexity and danger. He was a vampire with a terrible gift capable of wreaking havoc if provoked. In short, Luc was a metaphorical hornet's nest waiting to swarm, and I was the stupid naive girl who had approached it with a large stick and poked it.
