Chapter 14

• Luc had issued an ultimatum to me. I had to let go of Jack or risk having him do it for me. For Jack's sake, I'd accept defeat and fulfill his request. Dragging air into my lungs, I gathered my remaining composure and walked out of the classroom.
• Even though I raised a few eyebrows, the crowded corridor was a welcome relief. I noticed what people were looking at after catching my reflection in a window. My hair was a mess, my lips were swollen, and my clothes were sloppy. I cursed Luc's name and dashed into the ladies room to straighten myself up.
• When I pushed open the ladies door and saw Henrietta leaning over the sink with a wand of lip gloss, I nearly died. Her eyes widened in surprise as she turned her head.
