Chapter 32

• I sat next to Luc on the cold floor, staring down at the pool of red vomit in front of me. I had no idea vampires could get sick; it seemed impossible. When I moved to clear it up, Luc drew me back to his side and said, "Let's just stay here a little while longer."
• I liked his suggestion, but my mouth tasted like sour blood, so I politely reminded him that I needed to wash my mouth after puking. Luc took it in stride and helped me to my feet. He took my hand and began to lead me towards the main bathroom where a number of toiletries had been left on the side in brand new packaging. Luc handed me a toothbrush and a tube of paste which I gratefully took.
• We stood in front of the sink, staring at our reflections in the massive bathroom mirror. Luc was soiled with blood and dust, and I was covered in my own bloody vomit. "God, we look so gross," I exclaimed out loud.
