Chapter 28
- Nico could be heard waiting outside the bedroom door. He was pacing impatiently up and down the marble floor, probably waiting for Luc to leave so he could question me about what happened last night. I sat in the middle of the bed, wrapped in a black sheet, wondering what the hell I was going to do.
- My clothes were nowhere to be found, and the only way I could contact Henrietta was through my cell phone, which was somewhere in the apartment with a dead battery. When Luc opened the bathroom door in his expensive tailored black suit, I swallowed hard and put on a brave face. "I'll get Nico to bring you up some breakfast after I go," he said, smoothing back his dark hair.
- "Thank you," I said, ignoring the nausea in my stomach.
