Chapter 75

  • There were two major factors working in our favor as we attempted to locate the enigmatic scholar known as Drabblestone. The first was that Port Cressida had its own web version. Vampires had embraced the digital revolution by creating their own private online space for their supernatural residents to use, complete with an online phone. The second advantage was that Drabblestone was a rare name, and there was only one resident with that name in Port Cressida - M. Drabblestone of 63 Challow Street.
  • The street was located near the waterfront in a run-down section of town near the docks. Jacques knew the area well and offered to drive us there. Nico was still not convinced, but he'd accepted the fact that we were going ahead with or without his approval. "This is a stupid idea," he muttered to himself as he lay on his bed.
  • We ignored his complaints and continued to prepare to enter the city. As it dawned on me that I was about to visit the city I'd heard so much about, I felt a surge of nervous excitement. Port Cressida, the West's Great Vampire City! I'd heard about it and seen its snowy roof tops from my distant tower for so long, but now I was going to see it up close and personal.
