Chapter 57
- Luc's enraged footsteps faded away, leaving Henrietta and me to continue our exploration of the apartment. There were only two rooms left to see: the bedroom and the bathroom. Henrietta was so eager to show me that she grabbed my arm and dragged me to a corner of the reception room where a small door concealed a tiny staircase. I followed her up the stairs, feeling uneasy about what had just happened between Luc and me. In retrospect, I should have made him wait outside for me while I took a bath. I desperately wanted to see him so I could make things right between us, but I was so irritated that I had to decline the invitation.
- "Are you still thinking about Luc?" Henrietta inquired as we ascended the stairwell.
- "I can't get him out of my head, and it's driving me insane," I admitted.
