Chapter 192

  • The smell of tartar and mud flooded my nostrils, even though my head hurt and my eyes were closed, I could sense that I was in danger. My senses sharpened, and my self-defense system kicked in. I opened my eyes, noticing total darkness. The sound of raindrops falling heavily on the roof was the only thing that could be heard.

I was lying on the floor, with my feet and hands tied. I grimaced in pain as I tried to sit up and felt a sharp pain in my head. I had been hit.
  • My breathing started to quicken and fear flooded me, flashes of what had happened came to me suddenly: me on the couch at home, the door being knocked, a man with a ski mask, him entering my house and covering my mouth, me struggling, him destroying my apartment, me trying everything to get him to let go. And finally: feeling a blow to my head that made me unconscious.
