• "Oh my God, they're wolves," I whispered, shining the light into the forest. I felt Nicholas move beside me; my hair was starting to get wet from the rain.
• "Wolves? Why do you say that?" he questioned. I looked at him, trying to see some amusement or something in his eyes, it was impossible that he hadn't heard the howling, in fact, he and his friends put them in the maze the other time.
• "Are you deaf or what? One just howled," I scolded. Nicholas seemed thoughtful.
