Chapter 77
- “What are you still doing in there?” The guard outside asked. His colleague had gone to eat or pee, Alicia couldn’t tell, but she knew he was alone. She rushed to the door, hiding behind it just as he pounded on it. “Hey, you better not be touching her. You know we can’t, at least not yet. Hey, come out right now.” When nothing happened, he was forced to open the door. “What the…” he was saying when he saw the collapsed man, and Alica hit him with her elbow on his neck, causing him to fall face-first on the floor. Thanks to them, the whole room was covered in dust, and it made her attack on them a lot easier.
- The guard had collapsed as soon as he fell, but Alicia still snapped his neck, she can’t afford to have any witnesses to testify against her. Now the two guards were taken care of, Alicia contemplated making a run for it now or waiting for the other guard to come back and take care of him, too, to prevent her escape from being announced. However, time was of the essence, so she quickly undressed the man who brought her food and put on his clothes. She rubbed silver dust on her clothes; she needed it to weaken anybody she met. She put on the mask, folding her hair to fit inside it, dumped the food on the floor, and carried the tray.
- Her heart was beating loudly, and she partly shifted into Nala to heighten her senses. Having been taken out to use the restroom often, she could say she knew her way around. Only that there wasn’t much to know. Once outside the room, there was a long way that led to the restroom, then there was a stairway beside the restroom, but she was never allowed to go there. The surroundings looked like a basement, which only means that going upstairs is her only ticket out of there. Approaching the restroom, she heaved a deep sigh and stood in front of the door. There was no one inside, which means the other guard was upstairs. How many would she be meeting once she climbs up?
