Chapter 126
- The palace fell into uproar with the news that the Queen was sick; everyone was running around, trying to do what they could in any possible way they could. Alicia woke up to this news and frowned. She wondered if the incident yesterday had been so traumatizing for Amelia that she had taken ill. She left her room after staring at her neck in the mirror. Leo has finally rejected her now; she doesn’t have to carry his mark on her neck around anymore. She felt a little sad, though, just a little, after all, she had been in love with him for as long as she could remember, and even though their marriage happened differently, she had been happy. But he had to ruin it all by breaking his vow to her mother. Well, it was all for the best. Not only did she find herself in the arms of her fated mate, but he turned out to be her first love, even if she was too young when she met him to know what first love is. She smiled, she really hopes that someday, she will recover her memories of when she first met Shawn, she was sure she was up to no good during those times, and knowing Shawn, he must have greatly indulged her.
- She made her way towards Amelia’s wing; it was her first time going there, but with the maids she kept meeting on the way and asking for directions, she found herself right in front of Amelia’s wing soon after. When she first met Amelia, she had felt that the woman hated her, or maybe disliked her, and she made up her mind to stay away from her and to only find her when necessary. But, for some reason, she could feel that she had gotten closer to the woman; after all, she had wanted to be a friend of hers but was drawing back because she thought she was in love with Shawn. Now that she had shared her secret with the woman, she had to find out what she was thinking, if she felt their closeness too, or if she was the only one imagining it. She really hopes Amelia will keep her secret, especially from Susan.
- The maid outside bowed on seeing her before offering to go inside and alert Amelia about her visit. Soon after, the maid came out and ushered her in. Alicia could feel her heart beating loudly in her chest, but she forced herself to push down her fear and open the bedroom door. Amelia was sitting up on the bed, her back resting on the headboard. There were two little girls around her, and Alicia was shocked. It was the first time she had seen the children since meeting the royal family. The one who was obviously the older one glanced at her and greeted her before turning her gaze back to her mother.
