Chapter 70

• Alicia got off the flight with everyone else. She glanced around, searching for Shawn and the Shadow soldiers, but there was no sign of them anywhere. She decided to leave the airport first, believing that they must be waiting for her outside. However, when she did get outside, there was no one. Worried that Shawn has been caught up in the investigation about the Queen Mother’s attack and has forgotten, she decided to call him. But his phone was not reachable. She tried again and again, but still nothing. She cursed, hating the fact that she didn’t have Theo’s number, and making a mental note to get all their numbers this time.
• There weren’t many cabs around, and anyone she talked to seemed to already have a passenger and was waiting for them. Depressed and still trying Shawn’s number, a cab pulled over, and the passenger got out. She watched as the passenger paid the driver, and as soon as he was done, she rushed to the car.
• “Are you available?” Alicia asked.
