Chapter 114
- The guards led Alicia and Amelia to avoid the reporters who were trying to interview them about the trial going on today. With the guards' help, they successfully entered the council through the door made for the royal family. The guard led them up to their booth, and they both sat down. Alicia had thought that Shawn would already be there since he left earlier with Donald, but he wasn’t. Donald was seated on his throne, looking down at the council, looking imposing. Alicia thought of the day she had stood beneath him, the fear of having him stare down at her, and, for some reason, was happy that today’s meeting had nothing to do with her.
- As if sensing their presence, Donald glanced at them, his gaze held hers for a few seconds before moving to his queen. Alicia glanced at Amelia to see her staring at him too, and with the silence that passed, she knew they were communicating via the mind-link. Five minutes after they were seated, Susan and Grace walked in. As they sat down, she saw Donald glance at Grace as well; however, this time, a tender smile was on his face. Alicia instinctively glanced at Amelia, and she saw the woman looking away. That small seconds showed her what she had failed to notice, could it be that Amelia was really in love with Donald and not Shawn? Could it be that she acts unaffected by his obvious affection for Grace because she wanted to hide her pain? Could it be that she had misunderstood her all this time?
- She sensed Shawn’s presence before she saw him. Nala reacted to him excitedly, almost like they had not been together this morning. So this was what it feels like to be in love with your fated mate? Thinking about it, she realized she can’t blame Donald for being more affectionate with Grace than Amelia, nor can she really hate Leo now for choosing Selina over her. Indeed, the bond of a fated mate is hard to ignore. Her expectant gaze turned to the door and as it opened, her eyes met with Shawn’s. A tender smile lit up on his face, albeit briefly before he walked up to her. He sat down beside her, his gaze meeting with Donald’s for a brief moment just before the council doors were opened and a man in silver cuffs were led in by two guards.
