Chapter 153

  • By the time Shawn returned to their bedroom, Alicia was already fast asleep. He wasn’t surprised, though. Philip had told him earlier that he was going to give her a sedative to help her sleep better. Nowadays, she doesn’t need anything stressful, and he wondered if it was a good thing to tell her about Selina. Perhaps he should keep the news to himself for now, until she was fully healed.
  • Shawn went into the bathroom and took a long shower, spending longer than necessary while trying to arrange his thoughts. He walked back into their room after thirty minutes, his long hair still damp and sprawled on his shoulders like a waterfall. He stared at the sleeping woman on his bed; her face still had patches of purple-blue marks, and her lips were still torn. He sighed, and leaned on the doorframe of the bathroom, the white towel he had been using to dry his hair draped on his head. He crossed his arms on his chest as he watched her sleep, feeling sad for her.
  • If it weren’t for the evil ones around her, Alicia wouldn’t be alone in this world. Her family would have been with her. Yes, they may not meet the way they did because of that, and he may not go to the East looking for her, but if Micah had been alive, then during his marriage, he would have been forced to visit the East, and since Alicia was his mate, they would have known as long as they saw each other.
