• The room was silent, as the waltz had just finished playing, making the maid’s words echo and sending everyone straight into shock.
• No one said anything, no one reacted until a shrilling scream broke the shock spell. Alicia glanced and saw that it was Grace screaming; she was squatting down and covering her eyes as she screamed, like she was trying to block out what she had just heard and her own voice. Donald was leaning by her side, trying to get her to get up or perhaps stop her from screaming.
• Alicia reacted first by dashing out of the room and tracking down Amelia with her scent. She found her in the kitchen holding an unconscious Cody, who had blood trailing from his mouth to a little pool on the floor by his side.
