• Shawn couldn’t believe his ears; the news sounded like a bomb had been let loose in his mind. “What did you just say?”

• Shawn bit his lips. He never wanted to protect his sister; he had actually wanted to threaten to kill her if he didn’t tell him what he wanted to know, but if he did that now, Dan might give up, believing it would be better if they both died together. “Ugh,” he groaned, “fine.”
