Chapter 122
- Leo stared at the email on his laptop screen, and the name of the sender sent a chill down his spine. Theodore Lannister, the beta of Shadow Pack, and the right-hand man of the Shadow Lord. He has never met the man, not once in his lifetime, and now he has sent him such a threatening message. The Shadow Lord ordered him to reject Alicia, or he would be the next person he sees the day after tomorrow. He had only seen the Shadow Lord when he was little. He usually visits Micah in the pack. He was a young boy whose name had traveled the whole world, the one and only person who found his wolf at fifteen and had killed all his uncles at thirteen so that his brother would be crowned king. Whenever he visited the pack that time, Leo usually watched him from afar, wondering if the rumors about him were true. Back then, he was always with Alicia, fulfilling her every whim and looking nothing like the rumors he had heard about him.
- But then, after Alicia had her accident, he only visited once and never again, and Leo has never seen him again since then. When he heard the news that Alicia had been proposed to by the Shadow Lord, something about it reminded him of the past, how the Shadow Lord followed Alicia around even though he was ten years older and looked more like her older brother. Could it be then? Had he fallen in love with her at that moment, but was broken when Alicia forgot all about him? Was it why he had remained single all this time and immediately proposed to Alicia on hearing about their divorce? He had refused to reject Alicia, believing that she would come crawling and begging him to take her back. After all, he knew how much Alicia loved him.
- However, the first night he felt that unbearable pain in his neck made him doubt himself. He, of all people, knew what that pain meant. Alicia had surrendered herself to the Shadow Lord. Does it mean that she had really forgotten about him? He refused to give up, not believing that a love nurtured for so many years could just die like that. However, every night he felt that pain, he wondered if he was wrong for holding onto her. Alicia had rejected him, meaning she was no longer connected to him, and therefore wouldn’t feel anything about him. But holding onto his mark on her allowed him to be partially connected to her; he could feel her pain and joy. And earlier today, she had been in unbearable pain that he nearly ordered a flight to be readied for him so that he would go to her. But just as the pain had started, it slowly died off, and even though he didn’t want to admit it, he knew it had to do with the Shadow Lord; he must have calmed her down.
