• "My warriors informed me that they spotted rogue camps - down in a cave, in the woods to the east,”€ He informed, his voice carrying that familiar, authoritative weight. “It's not much, but it's something. You might find them there.”€ I nodded, meeting his eyes one last time. “Thank you,”€ I said, my voice rough with appreciation. An understanding passed between us. I was going to be returning the favour, and soon. I turned to Jacob, giving him a subtle nod. Without another word, we both stood, heading toward the door.
• Jayden’€™s voice stopped me just before we reached the threshold. “€œDante.” I turned back to him, his gaze steady. “Be careful. This Aiden he’s not just a rogue. There’€™s something more to him. He might be dangerous in ways you're not expecting.” I nodded, holding his gaze firmly. I already had an idea of what he was saying. Whoever this Aiden was, he was not to be underestimated. He'd attacked my pack with two other rogues, but he'd somehow been the only one to not get killed. And when he'd pushed Isabel against the tree... it occurred to me now that he'd been familiarizing himself with her. Wanting to see who it was that had ended the life of one of his men.
