• The guest room was extremely wide and expansive, just like all the other rooms in the house. As a law, the pack house had to be large enough to accommodate more than half of it's population, just as the mansion did. Jade sensed my confusion. "It's not about the room. She... she must have been holding her breath... in an attempt to take her life." She explained, her voice barely audible. Holding her breath... in an attempt to take her own life.
• The words bounced around in my head, sinking in rather slowly. I should have known she would be up to something else. It was almost like the more I tried to keep her in line, the more determined she was to step out of it. Just this morning, the little chit had tried to drive a dinner knife through her heart. While it wouldn't have killed her, it would sure as hell have caused her a lot of pain. She didn't have her wolf. Healing from a wound as serious as that would have been gruesome.
