Chapter 126
- Isabel
- She arched an eyebrow, chuckling. “Am I?” She asked, her dark eyes glinting with something I couldn’t quite place. “Look at what she represents. She’s Dante’s. His blood, his future. And you?” Her lips curled, her voice dropping into something softer. “Well, you were never meant to last.” She poured, raising her shoulder in a shrug. "Why punish the baby?" She carried on. "I mean, with Stella things had been different. She hadn't given birth yet. But you have..." Her voice trailed off. "Yes, I think you should be the only one to go. Dante, Estelle and I... we'll all manage without you." I wanted to claw the smugness off her face.
- She thought she could just take my family from me without a fight? I forced myself to stay calm. Losing control wouldn’t do anything but give her more satisfaction. “You should eat something,” Bianca said after a moment, shifting the baby slightly in her arms. “You need to keep your strength up, so you can feed Estelle when she gets hungry again.” I ignored her, still reeling from the things she'd said earlier. “They’re still looking for you, you know,” she continued, her voice casual, as though we were discussing the weather. “You should see Dante... he's even worse than he was when Stella died.”
