Chapter 119
- Dante
- The house was empty when I got back, and lately, I didn't like coming back to an empty house. I preferred the sight of Isabel helping Louisa out in the kitchen, or watching TV in the living room, or just going through a magazine. Anything at all really, as long as it meant she was in the house. We'd already talked about her work at the orphanage and we'd both agreed this was going to be her last week until after she'd given birth to our baby. Wanting to let her know I was well aware she wasn't fragile, was the only reason I'd let her work for so long in the first place. I understood she was strong and didn't need to be treated like a weak Omega, since she wasn't that anymore.
- I just couldn't help but want her to remain in the house where it was safe. I'd already gotten all the locks and passkeys changed, ensuring that no one asides Louisa would be able to get into the house without permission. Not even any of the council members. The silence that welcomed me as I took a step into the house was discomforting. I was back earlier than usual, so it didn't surprise me that Louisa wasn't here yet to get started on dinner. I darted my gaze to the wall clock in the living room. It also wasn't time for Isabel to get back from the orphanage either. She still had about an hour left. Everything was apparently normal.
