• The first howl cut through the night like a blade, and I knew; the rogues had breached the border. I was already moving, eyes snapping to the window as another howl sounded in the distance. My instincts flared, the warning bells ringing in my skull, drowning out everything else. The pack was under attack, and ten seconds was all it took for me to storm out of the room and then the pack house and towards the pack center. My bones began to shift almost involuntarily, muscles stretching and snapping into place, the wolf inside clawing to get out.
• My hands turned into claws, my senses went into overdrive; smell, sight, hearing, all heightened. The pack warriors had already immediately tried to control the attack. None of the pack members were out of their homes aside from the warriors. A rogue, fast and violent, took a mad leap in the air and landed with a sickening thud, its claws scraping across the grass. The pack warriors had been sent into the pack to fight off the wolves. My heart hammered in my chest as I sprinted forward, teeth bared. I caught sight of someone approaching the center of the pack.
