  • I had to be careful to not let the information get into the wrong hands. The gash at my side wasn't supposed to take more than a few minutes for me to heal completely, but based on how deep it was - and the fact that the idiot might have dipped his claws in poison before the fight - I knew it would take longer than necessary. I stared off at the direction he had taken, debated checking it out for myself and then thought against it a second later. Thorne and the rest of the other pack warriors were coming up with a plan. It would be best if we stuck with it. And not let too many people know what we were planning either. Deciding to keep the news of the attack and Adrian's escape to myself for some time, I slowly began heading back to the pack.

I barely had time to assess the scene around me when Isabel emerged from the kitchen. She froze mid-step, her eyes widening as they raked over the blood staining my shirt. Her horrified gasp was both soft and loud at the same time. She closed the distance between us without hesitation, her hands hovering near my side as if afraid to touch. Her eyes met mine. "What happened?" She asked, her voice trembling. "Dante?" She called out when I'd gone too silent.
