Chapter 26

  • *Isabel*
  • I went back to my food, willing to take down as much as possible. It wasn't that Louisa didn't bring enough food in her trolley, but she had never brought this much. "About the rogue..." My mood instantly dampened. I should have known he'd had something up his sleeve. Had I really thought he'd suddenly decided to be thoughtful? That he'd had a change of heart about me? My appetite immediately disappeared. "I need to know how you had managed to take him down despite being so weak." I bit the inside of my cheek, eyeing the dinner knife on the table.
  • His tone became annoyed. "Don't act like you can't hear me, Isabel." He snarled angrily. "How would it feel to finally be set free?" He taunted, a harsh reminder of my place here. I might be seated at the same table as him but he would never see me as an equal, never mind that I was his mate. "To finally be able to go past the borders of the pack?" His tone was mocking and I eyed the knife even more, humiliation settling in my gut. "If that sounds like a dream come true," He continued. "I suggest you start talking."
