• We left for Badosa that very same day. The King had graciously arranged a break from university and informed Nelly’s parents about her move to the magic land. Mayi, the magician, was tasked with letting Katty’s mom know as soon as we arrived. Both Katty and Nelly were practically buzzing with excitement. I’d heard that anyone supernatural gets thrilled at the thought of going to Badosa—but I wasn’t. Maybe it was because of my last encounter with the giants there. I kept stealing glances at Aunt Margaret, hoping to read her expression. She seemed calm—maybe even excited. Probably because of the mate thing? Meanwhile, I was more anxious than anything else.
