• The following morning dawned in soft silver hues, the moon, still faintly visible as if watching over us in farewell. Malena led us up the ancient marble steps that wound toward the shrine of the goddess Selene. I had imagined the place countless times from the stories I had started reading, yet nothing could have prepared me for the breathtaking reality of it.
