Chapter 55 The Last Challenge

• The following day we went to the shrine of goddess Selene. The place was beautiful and it had other sculptures. I know that goddess Selene is mostly associated with werewolves but she is also our goddess. Our history tells of many other goddesses and gods who helped give us our supernatural ability. Some assume there was a fight between the moon goddess and the sun god and the Werelions were created. But many accounts associate the moon goddess with creation of all wereanimals. In one way or the other, she remained the loving mother. I’m glad I’ve taken my time to read and learn about werelions, their origins and abilities whenever I had extra time. Outside the shrine was also the statue of the sun goddess, who actually has the head of a lion in Egyptian mythology. She is associated with health and wealth, goddess. Her name is Sekhmet. We were required to go through the rituals and some personal declarations whereby we chanted words of affirmation, accepting our lions and vowing to never part ways with them for as long as we lived.
• Malena had made a concoction for us to drink. “This one is for you Lucy. Take it, close your eyes and chant these words, ‘Oh goddess, thank you for gifting me with another soul to inhabit my body. Thank you for honoring me with extra senses and abilities. May I be found worthy of Your gifts!’ say it three times then gulp this down. And continue to chant it three more times and wait for the reaction.” Malena said to me and proceeded to give Auntie her instructions.
