• We went to pick Nelly from my dorm before heading out. On the way, I told Katty and Nelly that Mal and Tom were treating us to lunch because they still felt bad about what had happened between Kenneth and me. They both gasped and shared curious glances, but I brushed it off with a laugh.
• We reached the small Chinese restaurant just across the school gate. The place smelled like ginger and soy sauce, and the air buzzed with students chatting over lunch. We found a quiet corner and sat down, the four of us chatting and laughing as if the world hadn’t been so complicated before.
