• “So you mean we should prepare ourselves that we might have to do this the hard way?” she asked, her voice surprisingly calm. I had expected nervousness, maybe hesitation, but instead she stood there steady, almost serene. Her eyes did not waver. For a moment, I simply stared at her, struck once again by how different she was from what the world assumed. I nodded, affirming the truth she already understood.
• “Fine, I’m ready for it. Looks like I’m the main character after all,” she said, shrugging as if the possibility of war was merely another task on her list. The nonchalance caught me off guard. A part of me wondered, Was she really war-ready? Or had everything she recently endured hardened her faster than any training ever could?
