• “Come, let’s go!” I said to the two gentlemen at my side — my father and my mate. Their faces were set with determination as we prepared to uncover the truth behind the mysterious intruder. We were headed toward the portal, searching for Kellan, the supposed giant who had alerted us about the unwanted visitor.
• My heart pounded with anticipation. I wanted to trace the stranger’s scent, to follow the faintest trail of energy that would lead us to whoever had smuggled him into the magic lands. If we could find him, Father would be able to capture his image and project it before everyone for all to see. It would be our first solid proof — and perhaps, the first step toward preventing a disaster.
